My Art gallery
This is a water colour pen & pencil painting on white background.
I was inspired by an artist on pinterest who used Alcohol & ink.
I've used blues, aquas and greens which are calming and soothing. I'm reminded of the blue planet series on tv with the giant shawl of fish swimming together for protection.
This piece is done with water colour pens. I was inspired again by something similar on pinterest. I was drawn to it because I love to walk along the shoreline. I used earthy tones to represent the different areas you may get on a beach. With a grassy bank, pebbles, sand, and mud right out to the sea and on up to the sky to the horizon. I was playing around with what you might see on the horizontal rather than the vertical. This one again is quite calming and I feel drawn to explore the beach further. I will be trying this technique again but perhaps using other materiel's to build up the layers and textures.
Who doesn't love a Puffin? I saw this photo when I was looking for inspiration. I had drawn a Puffin before but had given it away as a gift. I wanted to have another go as I love the detail on their beaks which are quite comical from the side view. This one had it's beak fit to bursting with fish to feed it's young. They travel along way to get these fish and then have to run the gauntlet back to their nesting sites. It shows a strong will, determination and stealth.
Another one of my favorite birds, the Humming Bird. They are so tiny but fly so fast. This one is in mid flight capturing a moment ready to find some sweet nectar from those native rain forest flowers. Their wings can beat 100x a second. Their bright, iridescent colours are amazing, like they've been painted individually and lift my spirits when ever I see them, sadly only on the tv so far. I've used my water colour pens once again for this painting. I'm mesmerized and captivated by their flying skills, the only bird who can fly backwards.
This is one of the largest canvases I've done so far. I love purple and this fitted so nicely with the theme I had for my bedroom that I've hung it above my bed. I was inspired by something I saw on pinterest where alot of my inspiration comes from. I used textured paint for the centre of the flower and hues of purple and pink for the background.
This one was a gift to my parents on their Golden wedding anniversary so is very special. They hung it in pride of place above the fire place in the their living room.
I loved exploring the sea as a theme and tried to capture the different colours you might see. This is an abstract watercolour and highlighted with silver and glitter pen fish.
.Another seascape with a beautiful whale.
A slightly smaller scale painting abstract koi carp at feeding time.
Here I was having another go with my water colour pens and water brush to create this piece. I have been following a few artists that use a fine nib black pen to give some depth and detail. I hope it worked?
Butterflies are one of my main focuses of 2021. I find them fascinating and beautiful. Blue is my favourite colours and so I have used water colour pencil and pen to blend the green and blues.
An abstract butterfly again in my favourite colours with a little bit of sparkle.
